1 package of pre-minced mix
1/2 cup breadcrumbs (adjust as needed for binding)
1/4 cup finely chopped onion
2 cloves of garlic, minced
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon dried basil
1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika
Salt and pepper to taste
Olive oil for frying
Marinara sauce or your favorite sauce for serving
- In a large bowl, combine the pre-minced plant-based mix, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, minced garlic, dried oregano, dried basil, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are thoroughly combined
- Allow the mixture to rest for about 10 minutes, which will help the breadcrumbs absorb moisture and bind the mixture together.
- Shape the mixture into meatballs of your desired size using your hands. If the mixture feels too dry to hold its shape, you can add a tablespoon or two of water to help with binding.
- Heat some olive oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Place the meatballs in the pan, ensuring they have enough space between them to cook evenly.
- Cook the meatballs for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown and heated through. Gently rotate the meatballs with tongs to cook all sides evenly.
- Once the meatballs are cooked, you can serve them immediately with marinara sauce or your favorite sauce of choice. They can be enjoyed as is or served with pasta, in a sub sandwich, or as an appetizer.
These savory plant-based meatballs made from a pre-minced mix are versatile and delicious. Enjoy them in various dishes or as a standalone appetizer!
